Costa Rica is well known for coffee, pineapple and electrical circuits. How about yoga? I recently went to a yoga retreat there for some time out. I highly recommend the ziplining and white water rafting to flank the tranquility of 2 sessions of yoga a day.

Familiar Influences - Mother/Daughter Art Exhibit
Ellen Callaway grew up in a world of 3-D birthday cakes, paper
maché halloween costumes and attending art exhibits. Her mother,
Genevieve was an art teacher for 27 years for kindergarten to college
levels. This childhood environment was an incubator for Ellen to
develop an artistic appreciation with a concentration in photography.
Genevieve and Ellen are each others biggest fans and worst critics.
Genevieve emails Ellen stages of her paintings for feedback during
the paintings progression. Ellen is eager to email back with praises
and considerations. Genevieve has always been equally supportive
of Ellen’s work and progression.
In recent years, Genevieve’s choice medium is pastels. Her subject
matter depicts water vistas along the Maine coast. Ellen has taken
on photography as her medium with a concentration on food in studio
and its natural environment during her travels. -

Inn Style
In 1965, my grandparents purchased what became Parsons Post House Inn in Ogunguit, Maine. It has remained an annual staple vacation spot for my family. From my mother baking the muffins every morning to me taking photos of them for the website ….. the inn is truly a family affair.

Crazy for Cranberries
Food stylist Wendy Powell lives in charming Marshfield, MA. Shooting at her home is a culinary vintage prop haven with breathtaking views. The dish at hand is Pork Roulade with Green and Pickled Cranberries.

I joined Wendy at her Marshfield home on a shoot for the Cranberry Marketing Committee. Through her son’s suggestion, we listened to his favorite band (at least on that day of the week), Passion Pit. It was a beautiful fall day, with a cranberry-inspired dish and cranberry bogs within sight…seemed like a natural progression to have cranberries on the branch in several of the shots. Rarely do we get the opportunity to shoot within the current season of the dish.
A few days later meant a return trip to Marshfield to visit Wendy’s neighbor’s cranberry bog during the harvest. I realized that day I enjoy every fall season more than the year before. Something about the crisp air and the crackling leaves under my feet, the vibrant colors surrounding me. I am in sensory overload if there’s a burning fireplace within nose range!
Carleton Chandler. His name even sounds like a cranberry bog owner! Carleton Chandler is Wendy’s neighbor—the owner of the Marshfield Cranberry Co.
One of the Marshfield Cranberry Company’s bogs had already been flooded the day before we arrived. The flooding popped the cranberries off the branches. The berries were corralled together and pushed up the conveyor belt into an 18-wheeler truck. We got shots from above the truck, around the bog and even in the water.

HARVEST TIME! Picture being in a vineyard in New England during the fall….. amazing. Located in Rhode Island, Sakonnet Vineyards benefits from the sea air and pronounced seasons. It’s been a pleasure getting to know owner, Susan Samson over the years through WCR (Women, Chefs & Restaurateurs) events.

Children's Hospital for Flashes of Hope
Last week, I shot for Flashes of Hope at Children’s Hospital. Each child has such drive and energy. Zachory was showing me yoyo tricks in the hall and Olivia has a movie actress career ahead of her.
