Familiar Influences - Mother/Daughter Art Exhibit
Ellen Callaway grew up in a world of 3-D birthday cakes, paper
maché halloween costumes and attending art exhibits. Her mother,
Genevieve was an art teacher for 27 years for kindergarten to college
levels. This childhood environment was an incubator for Ellen to
develop an artistic appreciation with a concentration in photography.
Genevieve and Ellen are each others biggest fans and worst critics.
Genevieve emails Ellen stages of her paintings for feedback during
the paintings progression. Ellen is eager to email back with praises
and considerations. Genevieve has always been equally supportive
of Ellen’s work and progression.
In recent years, Genevieve’s choice medium is pastels. Her subject
matter depicts water vistas along the Maine coast. Ellen has taken
on photography as her medium with a concentration on food in studio
and its natural environment during her travels.
